2007 AMA Nonprofit Marketing Conference: Overview (.pdf)
The Nonprofit Travel Grants program rewards emerging Ph.D. scholars with an interest in nonprofit marketing by making it possible for them to attend the July 14 -16, 2008 AMA Nonprofit Marketing Conference in Washington, D.C. The theme for the 2008 conference is "Telling Your Story: From Vision to Results." As the field of nonprofit marketing becomes more specialized, these scholars will help to shape the research that influences the nonprofit marketing strategy of the future.
Ph.D. recipients will be awarded travel grants to pay for expenses related to the attending the AMA Nonprofit Marketing Conference. These scholars will have an opportunity to learn from nonprofit leaders as well as prominent marketing academics about the issues facing nonprofit marketers. Ph.D. students currently enrolled in a marketing department of a US or Canadian accredited business school and interested in the study of applying the marketing discipline to the nonprofit sector are eligible to apply.
Applicants are selected based on responses to a series of questions, including a statement of why they wish to attend and how it would be beneficial to them at this stage in their career. A committee comprised of Board of Trustee Members of the AMAF and recognized scholars in the field of nonprofit marketing will select this year's winners.
Applicants must complete an application, which is found by accessing the link at the bottom of the page. The deadline for applications is Monday, April 14, 2008. Applications include the following information:
- Name and contact information
- Statement as to why attending the conference would be beneficial to applicant at this stage in his/her career
- List of publications and presentations
- Statement confirming the applicant has a strong interest in the field of marketing in the nonprofit sector with supporting information (e.g. area of research)
- A brief career resume
- Statement that applicant will be responsible for taking detailed notes and presenting them in a format specified in the AMAF writing guidelines and will sign a copyright agreement stating that the notes and final presentation upon completion are owned by the AMAF.
Scholarship recipients will be selected and notified in early May.
